One of the most important parts of this goal-setting process is to write everything down.

Repetition helps the brain realize how important achieving this goal is to us, which makes the mind obsessed with inevitably achieving it.

THE POWER OF THE MIND

Ever heard of the Reticular Activating System (RAS)?

Basically, this is the center of our brain that filters information.

Its primary responsibility is to determine whether the information received by the subconscious reaches the conscious part of the brain.

The world around us is filled with overwhelming stimuli which make this task vital.

Nobody wants to be overloaded with thinking about breathing, the effects of gravity, the sounds we hear, and the endless details we see.

This would make day-to-day functioning downright impossible.

WHY IS THIS IMPORTANT?

Once we’re able to reprogram the RAS and convince it which information is and isn’t important to us, it will begin to release this into the conscious part of the brain.

As a result, we will begin to see new opportunities.

Here’s an example:

• If someone isn’t a car enthusiast, they likely won’t notice what car models pass by on the road. That’s because this information isn’t important to them, and so, their mind chooses not to bring their attention to it.

However…

When such a person is in the process of purchasing a new car, they have to do some important analysis, including the type of vehicle, those within their budget, size and economic practicalities, etc.

And because all of these considerations are important to inform the decision, all of a sudden this person can’t stop seeing that car everywhere they go.

• This also happens with pregnant women and young mothers…

Almost immediately, everyone around us is also pregnant or looking after a kid.

That’s because your child is now the most important thing in life, and therefore, we are more aware of when they are around.
